“Being NDN is not what is in your Blood it’s What’s in your Heart that counts the most”…

Bill Charfield, elder teacher and historian, agrees with this philosophy.

"My cultural identity makes me what I am. It is my beliefs that make me Indian."

I have, like many People, come from a NDN background. Simply put my family did not go on the trail or sign up with the government or their programs. There is in my eyes nothing wrong with being Non-gov. NDN’s or Gov NDN we all follow our own Paths “We are Brothers & Sisters”.

My Uncle Chief Two Trees his Grandfather George Washington Cannon and his Father William Jackson Cannon were all Keepers of Wisdom and Knowledge as were their Fathers before them. The Knowledge of Healing was handed to me in the same way it was handed to them ~ Teacher to student ~. I work in the here & now the and at times integrate the Old Ways from my Heart into the Healing. I feel a need to bring the two worlds together while keeping the Old Ways Sacred as I work with each Person…

I have been walking a Healing Path most of my life. There were times that I was walking this path and did not know I was on it. When I performed Stunt work and Acting I played the Bad Guy in Live Western Stunt Shows at Theme parks in Southern California and in Oklahoma City. Even then I was learning about Energy, Spirit & Healing and did not know it until I looked back at the lessons that I have learned.

I have been a Guided in the Healing Arts from a young age by my Ancestors.

My Uncle Chief Two Trees was Knowledge Keeper & Medicine Man of the non-gov Cherokee Family Clan. The title was handed down to him from his Granny, Mary Edna “Eyes of Fire“ Andes wife of George Washington Cannon, then at his transformation into Spirit the title was handed down to his little sister Jan “Singing Water” LaValle. In Sept. 2005 the Title of Chief of the Family Clan was handed down to me through a vote of my Clan Elders.

I am honored and privileged to serve as the North Carolina Clan Chief of The United Cherokee Nation (UCN).
