Chief David “Two Feathers” Bustin

O'siyo Nigada (Hello all )

I am David "Two Feathers" Bustin. With the retirement of Chief Walkingstick, I am proud of my appointment as the Clan Chief of Texas, I am honored to accept the position and responsibilities that it holds. As your new Clan Chief, I will do all that I can to increase the Texas Clan membership, and to be available to any member as needed. Most of all I will support The United Cherokee Nation (UCN) and "The Gathering".

I was born in Gladewater, Texas and was raised in Marshall, Texas around my grandmother, grandfather, sister, and mother. I have lived in many places, but always returned to Texas. I enjoy beading, feather work, ventriloquism, jewelry making, and making dream catchers. I live in the Piney Woods of Northeast Texas with my lovely, wonderful wife, 2 dogs, 2 ferrets, and a tom cat.

It is told by my family that a young girl of about 4 years had survived the Trail of Tears and married into my grandfathers side of the family. She was my great, great, great grandmother and the link to my Cherokee heritage. Even though the blood of my family has been mixed many times since then, my heart tells me who and what I am. I am Cherokee.

I look forward to speaking to all of the members of the Texas Clan and learning more about each and every one of you. Feel free to call or e-mail me and let me know your thoughts and suggestions for the Texas clan or just to say hello.

I feel that between the three of us we have a great team of leaders for the Texas Clan, and will be able to promote The UCN in Texas to it's fullest.

Wado (Thank You)

Clan Chief David “Two Feathers” Bustin

Assistant Chief Yona Woni

O’siyo members of The United Cherokee Nation (UCN) and Texas Clan members

I am the Reverend (Dr.) Alvie “Speaking Bear” Stiefer. I am the Great-Great Grandson of the Principal Chief of the Western Cherokee Nation: Chief Dennis Wolfe Bushyhead. His father is the famous Chief Reverend Jesse Bushyhead Sr. who led several thousand of our people on the Trail of Tears to Oklahoma and help establish the Western Cherokee Nation. He also established the first Cherokee Baptist Church. (Ref. Chronicle of Oklahoma, Vol. 14, no. 3, Sept., 1936.) My cousin Mark "Deerstalker" Stiefer is the Clan Chief of West Virginia.

I was born in Dallas, Texas and was raised in North East Texas in Cherokee County on a farm near the town of Jacksonville. I spent most of my time in the woods and fishing. I learned most of my heritage from the feet of my Grandmother Stiefer and the feet of my mother's father Alvie B. Crabb, who was also born in Indian Territory Oklahoma in the 1800's.

I spent twenty years in the USAF and five years a Law Enforcement Deputy where I was injured in the line of duty. I have been around the world twice. I have been in two conflicts, (Grenada & Panama) and one war, (Desert Storm). I have walked close to God since 1978 and I was ordained into His Service in 1979. I have pastored churches in several parts of this world while associated with the USAF and after I retired from the Service, I continued working with churches in isolated parts of Texas. My education is centered around Theology and Human Behaviorism. I have a ThB., ThM. And PhD. in Theology and PFC:D in Family Counseling.

I bring to the Tribe and Nation my role as a Spiritual Leader and my experience as an administrator to use as needed to furtherance of The United Cherokee Nation (UCN). I am also a Historian concerning the history or our people. I was first called Yona Woni, (Speaking Bear or Bear Who Talks) by the Chief of the Florida Seminoles, during a Tasalagi/Seminole Gathering and I have accepted that name as my own.

I currently live in Tomball, TX. (near Houston) where I am semi-retired and a pastor of a small congregation called Believer's Bible Fellowship. I continue to do research and write articles on Theological subjects. I am looking forward to serving the Tribe here in Texas and the Nation as a whole. I have always believed in the personal touch whenever dealing with people. Which means I am always available to help anyway I can for the Tribe. I will treat the tribe as I do my congregation, as a family.

I have been married to Judy for twenty-five years. We have two children and three grandchildren. Also two Boston Terriers. My hobbies are Hunting, Fishing, Storm Spotting for the National Weather Service, (NWS), Ham Radio, (KD5NHY) and playing my Fiddle, (I'm not very good). I am also doing the Genealogy for my family on Ancestry.com right now.

I believe deeply in "The Gathering" of our people back. It is time to hear and answer the calling of the Old Ones to resurrect our true heritage. The heritage that has been suppressed, obstructed, and almost forgotten. If we do nothing, our children will never know the richness of their true heritage. It Is Time!

Wado,

Assistant Clan Chief Yona Woni

Assistant Chief Indian Sky

O'siyo, I was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, March 3, 1953, in what was formerly known as Indian Territory. Both of my parents were of Native American ancestry, but it is on my father's side that the Cherokee heritage comes into play.

My grandmother was born in 1904 in Indian Territory, and has told me numerous stories of her rich heritage.

I am married, and have two sons, Justin and Cole. I enjoy being outdoors, and love to fish and garden. One of my passions is paiting, and I think that I was inspired by Jerome Tiger, an artist in Muskogee who is a wonderful oil painter.

My family moved to Texas when I was three, and we have been here ever since.

Wado,

Assistant Clan Chief Indian Sky
